CAMPBELL ELEM.
Campbell Elementary School -- A Natural Place to Learn -- is an EL (formerly Expeditionary Learning) Title I school that draws students from all over South Arlington, Virginia. As an EL School, Campbell is part of a national organization using this innovative model to re-imagine schools across the nation. We emphasize collaborative, authentic, active learning; real world relevance, character development, challenging academics and a supportive school culture. Title I schools have a high percentage of students from lower income households that receive free or reduced lunch. Key features of our program include:
• Creating interdisciplinary in-depth Learning Expeditions;
• Integrating Outdoor Classroom lessons and activities into curriculum;
• Fostering “Farm to School” activities utilizing our garden beds year-round;
• Celebrating and embracing the power of diversity;
• Empowering students to lead programs, projects and meetings;
• Preparing students with attitudes and skills to learn from and be of service;
• Fostering character, trust and frienship through individual and group instruction;
• Offering high quality, full day Pre-K programs for low income families.
